YBFPD

“Yemeni British forum for Peace and Democracy” -YBFPD

– YBFPD is a form established by a group of politicians and intellectuals in Britain who are concerned about deteriorating conditions in Yemen.

The YBFPD

– expresses concerns regarding gross human atrocities and violations in Yemen.

– Sadly, population of nearly 30 millions of Yemen are paying heavy price due to ongoing conflict and war in Yemen.

Yemenis live under miserable human situation with no viable health system, no electricity, water, gas and basic services with widespread infectious diseases such as dengue fever, malaria and West Nile virus as well as the suspected cases of Covid-19.

– In addition, cities are under siege with broken roads and transport system. Also, most of the ports are closed including the capital Sanaa , Taiz and Hodeidah ports.

– United Nations and other international organisations confirm the disastrous situation in Yemen and have been calling to stop the war for years.

– YBFPD believes  that the current war and miseries have been triggered by many factors mainly the coup on 21 September 2014 when Houthi militia run over the capital Sanna, imprisoned and tortured all activists and ruined all democratic institutions.

On the other hand, coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia and Emirates launched a war ,on 26 March 2015, meant to assist the legitimate government of Yemen but instead, unfortunately, have clearly lost targets and exaggrated the sufferings for Yemenies by implementing their own agenda. This has led to more human casualties caused by the coalition air strikes, claimed to be wrong and misled which have added to the already disastrous situation.

With the conflict in Yemen shows no real signs of abating as it enters its sixth year, and civilians from across the country and generations continue to bear the brunt of military hostilities and unlawful practices of state and non-state armed groups alike.

– Therefore, YBFPD believes that real peace has to be underpinned by real justice and by addressing the root cause of the war by stopping houthi militia , releasing prisoners, ending siege and returning all parties to democratic course. Coalition needs to stop war in Yemen and stop unnecessary military intervention.

– YBFPD hopes that UK government , political parties and influential groups such as Labour friends of Yemen ( LFY) and public influence pressure and use all means to stop the war and save people of Yemen.

– YBFPD calls for the international community, Arab Coalition, Yemeni government , Houthis and all parties to take urgent actions and steps to stop war in Yemen and implement peace .

– YBFPD’s vision to peace is based on United Nations Universal declaration of human rights ( UDHR) and all recognised peace treaties and principles that enshrine the rights and freedoms of all human beings.

– YBFPD believes that in order of peace to prevail in Yemen it has to be coupled with Democracy as peace with no democracy will have no meaning or wings to fly.

– To implement Democracy, choice of Yemeni people has to be respected, national dialogue recommendations forms reasonable and solid base to build upon ( given that all parties and sections of Yemeni political and social map participated in this dialogue and agreed to its recommendations including the current Houthis).

– YBFPD believes in the vision of federal and democratic Yemeni Republic ensuring constitutional civil and equal rights to all Yemenis to live on their land with protected sovereignty and dignity with no unhealthy intervention from outside its borders.

– YBFPD plans to raise awareness of the immediate need to implement peace and democracy in Yemen and campaigns to garner support for this noble cause.

– YBFPD representatives plan to hold series of meetings with all involved parties including UN special envoy to Yemen, representatives of Yemeni government , Houthis and Arab Coalition as well as any other players in this bloody conflict and disastrous situation.

– YBFPD hopes for all parties to cooperate and work together towards achieving its just causes and bringing peace and democracy back to this corner of Arabian peninsula.
